Crazy on Board

(This past week there were elections for the HOA Board in my building.  Only four members were nominated, including myself, and we need a fifth.  There were a few last minute write-ins to rally a final member and the following is an email exchange with one of the more established Board members, Charlene, our resident busybody, discussing adding Sue, a former Board member, back.)

Sue,

Do you want to be on the Board? Please let me know as you received three votes and one was mine from the write in.

Love,

Charlene

Charlene,

I feel very flattered to be asked to be on the Board again.  But - do you think I should?   You know how I am.  I can be a pain...Otherwise, I am up for it if you guys are....

Board Members:

I am a little slow on the Sue issue. Remember she received three votes to be on the Board of Directors and I said I would talk to her and ask her if she was interested in serving.

Her reply is below and she can be a pain and if the Board is in agreement I will speak to her personally.  So please let me know at your earliest.

I am happy to have her on the Board.  We need 5 members, don't we?

Yes we need five and other than her occasional problems she will be a great board member.

Hi Charlene,

I'm still relatively new to the Board...what "occasional problems"?  Like turning over tables while we're in executive session?--haha.  Should I be worried?

Sue is a good person once you get to know her, and very knowledgable of the building and rules. If it makes you feel better she always apologizes for her out-breaks I've even received flowers and or chocolate (smile). I think that she will be a lot better this time.

Okay, maybe I answered too soon.  I'm curious what the rest of the Board has to say.  Thanks for the input.

Sue is not a rule orientated person. She is a flower child of the 50's

And she is very opiniated and sometimes she does not  know how to shut up even when she is wrong. Generally she is ok. Sometimes I think she goes off her meds. Her good trates outweigh her bad one's.

I will talk to her before I let her know that the Board has said yes.
